Created a “back to basics” video explaining the fortinet CLI and some of the basic commands that are helpful. In this video I also go into detail as to why you want to use the CLI whenever possible.

Michael Pruett, CISSP has a wide range of cyber-security and network engineering expertise. The plethora of vendors that resell hardware but have zero engineering knowledge resulting in the wrong hardware or configuration being deployed is a major pet peeve of Michael's. This site was started in an effort to spread information while providing the option of quality consulting services at a much lower price than Fortinet Professional Services. Owns PacketLlama.Com (Fortinet Hardware Sales) and Office Of The CISO, LLC (Cybersecurity consulting firm).

    Hi Mike,
Do you have any videos on using variables in the fortimanager? We are deploying a few hundred 60E’s and are looking to use a combination of CLI configlets with variables and if possible Provisioning templates with variables. For static changes this isn’t an issue, but for multi site initial configurations it is. All sites are typically a single vlan but with different local LAN IP and WAN addresses and subnet masks. If you have a video on this already that would be great but I haven’t seen any as of yet.
